INDIANAPOLIS – The Francis Marion University women's soccer program continues to rank third in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Regional rankings, which the DII Women's Soccer Committee released on Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 12).
The NCAA regional rankings determine the participants for the NCAA Tournament. The Southeast Region consists of the Conference Carolinas (CC), the South Atlantic Conference (SAC), and the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). All three conference tournament champions receive an automatic bid, with the five remaining teams in the final regional rankings receiving at-large bids.
The selection show is set for Monday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m. A link to the show will be available on the front page of ncaa.com.
North Georgia remains in the top spot in the Southeast Regional rankings with a 16-1-1 mark while claiming the PBC regular season championship. Catawba sits second after securing the SAC regular season title and is one of three unbeaten programs this season, behind a 14-0-4 record. Francis Marion remains third while entering the Conference Carolinas Tournament as the top seed and has advanced to the semifinals with a 16-1-0 overall mark. Lander (12-2-2) climbed one spot to fourth, and Lenoir-Rhyne (10-4-3) fell one position to round out the top five.
Columbus State (12-5-1), Anderson (S.C.) (10-4-2), Coker (10-3-4), Wingate (9-7-1), and Belmont Abbey (14-4-1) complete the regional rankings.
The Patriots remain fourth in the latest RPI and DII Performance Indicator while boasting a 2-0-0 record against regionally ranked programs.
