Kristina Syragakis led Francis Marion University in the Conference Carolinas match-up against Barton College on Wednesday (Sept. 25) evening as she scored both goals in a 2-1 victory.
Francis Marion (3-1-2, 3-0-1) hosts Shaw University on Saturday (Sept. 28) afternoon, beginning at 5 p.m. The Patriots will resume Conference Carolinas action the following week on Oct. 2 at the University of Mount Olive.
As the reigning Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Week, Syragakis has now recorded seven goals in just four games with 18 shots on the season, 12 of those on goal.
Much like previous matches, sophomore defender
Joy Brockmann landed a long pass from the backline just behind Barton's defense at the feet of Syragakis. Syragakis then had time to settle and dribble before taking her shot from 10-yards out, giving FMU a 1-0 lead at 5:04.
Jenessa Gray of Barton (4-2-1, 1-1-0) had the equalizing goal in the 51st minute, scoring on a through ball from Lily Brooks.
Francis Marion regained the lead once again at the 67:03 mark with a long pass served in by senior midfielder
Linsey Downey, allowing Syragakis to take an 18-yard shot into the top right corner of the goal.
The Patriots outshot Barton 12-6 with six shots on goal. FMU also tallied six corner kicks to the Bulldogs' one.

Erin Grabeel recorded one stop in the goal as Bulldog keeper Taylor Primack made four saves.
