AIKEN, SC - Francis Marion University lost a 25-16, 25-15, 25-13 decision to USC Aiken, Friday morning (Sept. 13) in the opening match of the Pacer Invitational Volleyball Tournament.

Francis Marion (1-3) faced Carson-Newman University later Friday at 3 p.m.

Senior middleblocker Kaytlin Smart led the Patriots with eight kills and a .438 hitting percentage.  Senior Kara Walker and junior Caroline Walker added six kills and five kills respectively.

Junior setter Mya Mendoza handed out 17 assists, while junior libero Katie Floyd led FMU with nine digs.

Anna Sommer led USCA (3-1) with 17 kills and a .615 hitting percentage.
