GREENVILLE, S.C. – Francis Marion University junior midfielder
Izzy Ashley has been awarded the 2024 Conference Carolinas Elite 23 Award presented by McGriff Insurance Services for the sport of women's soccer.
The presentation was made recently prior to the conference tournament.
Ashley owns a 4.00 cumulative grade point average as a nursing major. A native of Kannapolis, N.C., she has twice been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for the Southeast Region (2023 and 2024), is a member of Alive in Christ and the National Student Leadership Society (NSLS), and garnered a Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award in 2024. She has been named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll three times and been placed on the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll all four semesters.
This season, she started all 19 matches and registered two goals on 13 shots. One of her scores was the match-winner in a win over Shaw University. She helped lead the Patriots to a 12-3-4 record, the conference tournament championship, and a berth in the NCAA National Tournament.
The Elite 23 Award honors Conference Carolinas student-athletes with the highest cumulative grade-point average at their respective championship site.
The award is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 Award and it allows all student-athletes at the final championship site to win the award.
Ashley is a product of Concord High School.
