Caroline Lucas and sophomore
Chaney Barth each pounded out nine kills to pace Francis Marion University to a 25-13, 25-15, 25-18 sweep of North Greenville University, Saturday morning (Oct. 12) in Conference Carolinas volleyball play.
Francis Marion evens its conference mark at 3-3 with its second sweep in less than 24 hours – following a 3-0 victory over Converse University on Friday night). FMU will travel to face UNC Pembroke in the renewal of the Battle of I-95 on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Lucas did not commit an attack error in 16 swings while posting a .562 hitting percentage. She also registered a team-high six blocks and served two aces. Barth added 11 digs and two aces.

Kara Walker chipped in eight kills, and junior setter
Mya Mendoza directed the FMU offense with 31 assists.
Junior libero
Katie Floyd led FMU with 19 digs, as the Patriot defense held the Trailblazers (5-12, 3-3) to a negative hitting percentage for the match.
Anna Fiddelke led NGU with seven kills and three blocks.
Francis Marion only trailed at 1-0 in the opening game. FMU rattled off the next three points and would later lead 15-12 before closing the set on a 10-1 run. North Greenville forged a 5-2 advantage early in game No.2, but the Patriots scored five straight points to take the lead for good at 7-5, part of what would be a 12-2 spurt.
In the third game, NGU held two small leads midway through at 9-8 and 10-9, before FMU rallied for a 13-10 advantage. After the Trailblazers closed to within 15-14, the Patriots ended the match with a 10-4 run.
