Kiana Lee scored a game-high 17 points as Francis Marion University won its fifth consecutive game, 83-50 over Clinton College, Thursday evening (Jan. 18) in non-conference women's basketball action.

Francis Marion, now 11-5, has not trailed at any point during its recent winning streak (200 consecutive minutes).Â

FMU will return to Conference Carolina play on Saturday, entertaining North Greenville University for a 2 p.m. tip-off.

Lee scored nine of her points in the third period as the Patriots outscored the Golden Bears 27-9. Lee finished the game shooting 7-of-8 from the floor.

Lauryn Taylor notched her 10th consecutive double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds. The current NCAA Division II rebounding leader at 13.6 rpg, Taylor moved past Brenda Cain and tied Jontell Johnson for ninth place on the FMU career rebounding list with 816.

Junior
Jada Richards was the third Patriot to reach double figures as she registered 11 points and handed out four assists. Eleven different Patriots scratched in the scoring column.

Freshman guard Kaelin Davis led Clinton (2-12) with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

A fast-break lay-in by sophomore
Trinity Adams gave FMU an early 9-2 advantage. After the Golden Bears pulled to within 13-9, the Patriots scored 12 unanswered points to forge a 25-9 lead.

Clinton trimmed the deficit to 11 points, at 28-17, early in the second quarter, but an offensive stick-back by FMU freshman
Trinity Delaney capped a 9-2 spurt that swelled the margin 37-19. The Patriots held a 43-28 lead at halftime.

Lee sparked a 13-3 run to open the third period and the Patriots were never threatened after that. The largest lead was 39 points at 81-42 after a lay-up by sophomore center
Lauren Brokken with 4:44 left in the contest.

Francis Marion connected on 43.4 percent of its field goal attempts and was 13-of-16 at the free throw line. Clinton was held to 26.6 percent shooting and made 6-of-9 shots at the foul line.

FMU outrebounded the Golden Bears 64-39. The rebound total was the highest for a Patriot squad in six seasons.
