Patriots surpass Trojans in final minutes with goal from Jordan

MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The Francis Marion University Women's Soccer Team overtook Mount Olive 2-1 in the final minutes of their Tuesday (Sept. 19) match-up with a goal from Ashely Jordan.
 
The Patriots (5-1-0, 2-0-0) will be returning to the pitch against Barton College at 3 p.m. in Wilson, N.C on Saturday, September 23rd. 
 
Kristina Syragakis, a sophmore from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, Canada, tallied her eighth goal of the season with a penalty kick into the bottom right corner of the net. This goal ignited the Patriots in the latter half of the match, just 13 minutes left to play. Along with eight goals, Syragakis has now posted 14 shots on goal and a .400 shooting percentage. 
 
With a cross from Syragakis, senior forward Ashley Jordan sealed the game at a score of 2-1 in the final 10 minutes of the match. Jordan has now recorded her fourth goal, 23rd shot, and a .174 shooting percentage. 
 
Goalkeeper Makayla Willets, continuing to prove her capability between the pipes, collected a total of three saves for the evening.
 
?Jordan led Francis Marion with a game-high of four shots while Joy Brockmann followed closely with two shots of her own.
 
Once again, the Patriots applied heavy pressure on the offensive end, taking 10 shots and landing eight on frame. FMU also tallied five corner kicks compared to Mount Olive's three.
 
Jaslyn Gat of Mount Olive had the lone goal for the Trojans.
