The Wolves recorded back-to-back sac flies to take a 3-1 lead in the top of the second, with Francis Marion responding with one run of its own as freshman third baseman

The bats heated up in the bottom of the fifth for FMU. With the bases loaded, Wakefield was hit by a pitch to knot the score at 3-3. Summerville followed with a 2-run single, then designated hitter
Alex Elliott rapped out a run-scoring single, and Reynolds ended the scoring with a 2-run single to make it an 8-3 Patriots' lead.
After holding the Wolves scoreless in the top of the sixth, the Patriots continued to connect on pitches, as Wakefield (2), Bussey III, and Reynolds all recorded RBIs to extend the advantage to 12-3.
The Wolves found urgency in the top of the seventh, responding with three runs to cut the deficit in half, 12-6.
Newberry continued to chip away at the lead as a bases-loaded walk trimmed the margin to 12-7 in the eighth. However, in the bottom of the frame, the game was called and made official due to increasing visibility concerns with the misty fog.
