HARTSVILLE, SC – Junior Hermon Mikael and freshman Paige Wise earned the doubles point with a victory at the top position and Francis Marion University then won five of the six singles matches to claim a 6-1 non-conference road win over Coker University, Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 23) in women's tennis action.
 
Francis Marion evens its season mark at 3-3.  The Patriots will play their next three matches at home beginning with a 3 p.m. contest against Tiffin University of Ohio on Tuesday.
 
In the opening doubles play, the Cobras (4-6) won at the No.2 spot, but FMU junior Gabriel Karantantcheva and sophomore Camryn Cassetori captured a 6-1 win at No.3 to leave the deciding match to Mikael and Wise at No.1.
 
Cassetori upped the margin to 2-0 when her opponent retired at No.6 singles, but Coker captured the No.1 spot to draw within 2-1.  However, the Patriots were victorious at the remaining four singles positions with Wise winning 6-3, 6-0 at No.2, Karantantcheva winning 6-3, 6-4 at No.3, sophomore Julie Martincova winning 6-4, 6-1 at No.5, and Sophia Hansen winning 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5) at No.4.
