MOUNT OLIVE, NC – Francis Marion University was on the road against unbeaten University of Mount Olive and dropped the match 8-1, Wednesday evening (Oct.19) in women's soccer action.
 
The Patriots (2-12-0, 2-7-0) return to Conference Carolinas action on Saturday against North Greenville University at 1 p.m. in Tigerville, S.C.
 
FMU junior goalkeeper Makayla Willets and senior goalkeeper Rachael Hennenkamp registered a combined 14 saves, including six in the first half and eight in the second stanza. Mount Olive goalkeeper Nicole Solicito recorded four saves in the match.
 
Francis Marion graduate student forward Dayle McEwen led the Patriots with three shots, including the squad's only goal of the match. Freshmen midfielder JG Garon registered two shots while forward Le'Landra Jarvis, midfielder Breesa Nawahine, and forward Ambrea Hills all had one shot.
 
McEwen's score came at 82:13 when she tapped in a beautiful free kick by Garon. It was her 21st career goal and pushed her career point total to 49.
 
FMU totaled eight shots in the match, hitting five on target, while Mount Olive (11-0-2, 8-0-1) registered 31 total shots, with 22 being on target.
 
Nya Baccelli tallied four of the Trojans' scores as she found the back of the net in the 15th, 26th, 49th and 59th minutes.
 
The Patriots registered one corner kick, while Mount Olive registered seven corner kicks in the match.
