Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – Georgia College used a trio of second-half goals to defeat Francis Marion University 3-0, Wednesday evening (Oct. 9) in Peach Belt Conference women's soccer action.
FMU (3-5-1 overall, 0-4 PBC), will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday when the Patriots entertain Georgia Southwestern State University at 4 p.m. on Hartzler Field.
Georgia College, which improves to 3-5-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the PBC, took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Kia Jie Jacobs at the 52:22 mark. Cassie Balzano and Becca Morris accounted for the final two scores in the 84th and 85th minutes respectively.
FMU sophomore goalkeeper Rachael Hennenkamp registered a career-high tying 11 saves, while Bobcat keeper Kate Richardson made four stops.
Francis Marion recorded seven shots in the match -- including four on frame – and was led by sophomore Rianna Orello with two.
In the scoreless first half, Orello forced a save by Richardson in the 19th minute. Sophomore Faith Allen also had a shot on target in the 33rd minute that the Bobcat keeper stopped, as did junior Sarah Moll in the 39th minute. The other on-goal attempt for FMU came off the foot of senior Carli Gauthier in the 89th minute.
The Bobcats held a slim 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
