Box Score DAHLONEGA, GA – Francis Marion University fell to the University of North Georgia 5-0 in Peach Belt Conference women's soccer action on Saturday evening (Sept. 23).
UNG, coming off a win over the nation's No. 2 ranked squad on the road, improves to 5-1-2 overall and 3-0-0 in the PBC.
Next up for the Patriots (3-2-0, 0-1-0) will be an away match against Lander University on Sept. 27 at 5 p.m. Next Saturday (Sept. 30) is the first home PBC match of the season for FMU as they face Clayton State University at 3 p.m. on Hartzler Field.
Four of the five goals scored by North Georgia were in the first half of play. Junior Renee VanHorn had two goals, one off of a penalty kick at the 3:03 mark and another after a cross in the 15th minute. The Nighthawks also had a goal with the time at 29:22 by freshman Taylor Malasek. Sophomore forward Daisah Patterson topped off the first half with just under one minute left making the score 4-0 at the 44:38 mark.
The Patriots allowed only one goal in the last 45 minutes as sophomore Payton Bisso struck it passed the FMU goalkeeper, junior Janine Gordon, putting the Nighthawks up 5-0.
UNG lead Francis Marion in shots (24-0) and corner kicks (14-1).
Gordon had seven saves in the game for the Patriots.
