Box Score HICKORY, NC – Lenoir-Rhyne University hit a blistering .418 attack percentage as a team while defeating Francis Marion University 25-17, 25-19, 25-13, Friday evening (Oct. 13) in non-conference women's volleyball action.
FMU falls to 6-11 on the campaign, while the Bears improve to 8-8.
Francis Marion will be on the road Saturday in Central, S.C., to compete against North Greenville University at 2 p.m. and Southern Wesleyan University at 4 p.m. The Patriot's next home event will take place in the Smith University Center against Lander University on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
Freshman Kayla Arthur led the Patriots with 12 kills and two blocks on the night, while junior Georgia Garrison compiled five kills and five digs. Sophomore Lenee' Blot and senior Shelbi Meek also added five kills to the team's totals.
Freshman Tori Carpenter recorded 16 assists and junior Carrie McGinnis 10, while both Meek and sophomore libero Natalie Vaughn dug up six balls.
The Bears' freshman Taylor Prall had a match-high 14 kills and eight digs, while fellow freshman Maggie Bogart compiled 10 kills. Sophomore Alexis Ivey led both teams with four blocks.
LRU junior setter Jessica Funk collected 16 assists on the night.
Lenoir-Rhyne jumped out to an early lead in all three sets which paved the way to a 3-0 victory. The Bears recorded 41 kills with only eight errors on 79 swings.
