MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – The Francis Marion University men's and women's cross country teams finished 10th and 12th respectively at the Peach Belt Conference Championship Meets, Saturday morning (Oct. 22) in Milledgeville, Ga.
Flagler College won the men's title, while the University of Montevallo claimed the women's crown with a near-perfect score of 19.
A pair freshman led the Patriot women in the 6,000-meter race with personal-best times. Alexis Byers placed 65th with a time of 25:33.7 followed by Emma Driggers in 73rd position with a time of 26:13.4.
Junior MacKenzie Arnold finished 79th in 26:39.5, while freshman Alison Filer (28:53.2) placed 93rd, sophomore Gabrielle Gosnell (29:27.5) was 96th, senior Nicole Edlmann (30:48.6) was 99th, freshman Jasmine Watson (personal-best 36:36.0) was 104th, and senior Emmeline Wheeler (40:29.7) was 105th.
For the third consecutive race, junior Javier Bustos Jaimes led the FMU men. The Eagle Springs, N.C. native placed 43rd as he completed the 8,000-meter course in 27:14.5. Junior Jonathan Reid finished 61st with a personal-best time of 28:01.4, while junior Devin Nelson (28:10.2) was 64th.
Sophomore Carlos Oliver (29:02.6) placed 76th, followed by sophomore Brandon Boggs (30:58.4) in 81st, sophomore Robert Hahn (31:23.1) in 82nd, senior Aaron Robinson (32:03.6) in 83rd, senior Jeremiah Hayes (32:07.1) in 84th, and freshman Andrew Pollard (32:37.7) in 85th.
