CONWAY, SC – The Francis Marion University men's and women's cross country squads placed fourth and fifth respectively in the Division II portion of the Coastal Carolina University Invitational Meet, Friday evening (Sept. 11) in Conway.

Freshman Carlos Oliver led the FMU men with a fourth-place finish as he completed the 5,000-meter course in 16:33.47.  Sophomore Jonathan Reid was the second Patriot finisher as he placed 20th in 17:52.58, followed by sophomore Devin Nelson in 22nd position (18:02.90), freshman Brandon Boggs in 24th (18:17.73), sophomore Javier Bustos Jaimes in 26th (18:56.94), junior Aaron Robinson in 32nd (19:44.48), freshman Robert Hahn in 35th (20:31.95), junior Jeremiah Hayes in 40th (20:56.01), and freshman Ben Bigelow in 41st (21:09.45).

Senior Meagan Wright paced the Francis Marion women as she placed fifth in the 5,000-meter race in a time of 20:39.02.  Sophomore Jacy Smith was the second FMU finisher as she came in 12th with a time of 22:00.99, followed by sophomore MacKenzie Arnold in 27th (25:06.22), freshman Gabrielle Gosnell in 28th (25:56.55), junior Nicole Edlmann in 31st (27:58.67), and freshman Titiana Gore in 34th (47:45.67).

Oliver finished eighth among all runners, both Division I and II, while Wright was 17th in the combined standings.

The University of Charleston (W.V.) captured the Division II men's title, while Concord University won the Division II women's team event.

Both Francis Marion squads will next run in the University of North Georgia Invitational Meet, Sept. 19, in Oakwood, Ga.
