Francis Marion ups its record to 5-1, the second such start for the Patriots in as many years. FMU will return to Florence to play host to St. Andrews University on Monday evening at 7 p.m.
Browning, who scored 24 points in Friday's opening-round win, shot 5-of-9 from the floor and 12-of-16 at the foul line on Saturday. He was followed by junior guard Alante Fenner with 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Sophomore swingman Mike Davis Jr. scored 13 points and junior 6-8 center Kenneth Jackson nearly registered his first career double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Chas Harvey led the Big Blues (1-6) with 17 points and seven rebounds, while James Day added 13 points and eight rebounds.
Francis Marion never trailed in the contest and the score was tied only once, at 2-2. The Patriots broke that deadlock with 12 straight points, including three-pointers by Browning and Davis Jr. FMU held Bluefield State scoreless for five minutes, while forcing the Big Blues to miss seven straight shots and commit five turnovers.
Another three-pointer by Davis Jr. pushed the lead to 17-4. FMU held a 25-11 advantage with 7:09 left in the opening half and the Patriots exited the floor at halftime holding a 39-27 advantage.

Bluefield State rallied to get to within eight points at 62-54 following a lay-in by Harvey with 8:11 on the clock.
