FLORENCE, SC – On a night when three seniors were honored prior to first serve, freshman Georgia Garrison tallied 15 kills, 13 digs, and four service aces to lead Francis Marion University to a sweep (25-22, 25-21, 25-21) of the University of Montevallo, Friday night (Nov. 13)  in Peach Belt Conference women's volleyball action.

Francis Marion snapped a three-match skid and improves to 15-13 overall and 8-9 in the PBC, locking up the sixth seed in next week's conference tournament.  FMU will close out its regular season on Saturday by hosting Columbus State University at 1 p.m.  Admission is free.

Garrison also registered a .448 hitting percentage as she committed only two errors in 29 swings.  It was the Trinity, N.C., native's fifth double-double of the season and her kill total was only two shy of her career high.

FMU senior Alexzandra Reed added 10 kills and eight digs, while also surpassing 100 service aces for her career.  Junior middleblocker Caroline Boone added nine kills.

Junior setter Samantha Hinrichs dished out 24 assists, while freshman Carrie McGinnis recorded 17 assists. Sophomore libero Shelbi Meek dug up 13 balls.

Rebekah Phelps led Montevallo (19-12, 10-7) with 12 kills, while setter Briana Marquez handed out 29 assists and dug up 11 balls.  Libero Carissa Bell recorded a match-high 14 digs.

Boone closed out the opening set with a kill off a Hinrichs' set, while the Patriots led from start to finish in the set-two victory that was capped by a Reed kill, again from a Hinrichs' assist.  FMU snapped a 21-21 deadlock in set three by scoring the final four points, including a kill and two service aces by Garrison.

In addition to Reed, the Patriots also recognized senior middleblocker Shelby Schindler and senior hitter Emily Sears in pre-match festivities.
