Box Score AIKEN, SC – Despite a double-double (13 assists, 10 digs) from junior setter Samantha Hinrichs, Francis Marion University lost a Peach Belt Conference road match to USC Aiken 25-11, 25-19, 25-14, Wednesday night (Oct. 7) in women's volleyball action.
The Patriots falls to 9-6 overall and 3-4 in the PBC. FMU will play a pair of non-conference matches on Friday evening in Greenwood, S.C.: 2 p.m. against Lincoln Memorial University and 5 p.m. against Tusculum College. The next home match for Francis Marion will be Saturday at 2 p.m. against Georgia College.
USCA (11-3, 4-3) earned a split of the season series after the Patriots swept the Pacers on Sept. 19 in Florence.
Junior middleblocker Caroline Boone led FMU with seven kills, while senior Alexzandra Reed added six. Reed closed to within 12 kills of 1,000 for her career. Sophomore libero Shelbi Meek led FMU defensively with 15 digs.
USCA's Shawn Hotson posted a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs, and was one of three Pacers to register double-figure kills. Emily Teelon handed out 40 assists and Katie Toman dug up 23 balls.
