Box Score SAVANNAH, GA – Armstrong State University registered a .457 team hitting percentage and defeated Francis Marion University in three sets (25-20, 25-20, 25-14), Wednesday evening (Sept. 24) in Peach Belt Conference women's volleyball action.
Francis Marion (3-8, 1-2) will return to action on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., when the Patriots play host to local-rival UNC Pembroke. Admission is free.
Three Patriots recorded six kills each on Wednesday – senior Shelby Jones, junior Alexzandra Reed, and sophomore Chiquita Rovers – while senior setter Sloane Shank tallied 25 assists and seven digs. Junior Brianna West and sophomore Carolina Boone each recorded seven digs.
Emily Wylie led Armstrong with 16 kills and a .520 hitting percentage as the Pirates (8-1, 3-0) won their 30th consecutive PBC regular-season match. Setter Kamryn Sherman dished out 42 assists and dug up nine balls.
Francis Marion stayed close during the first portion of each of the opening two sets, trailing only 10-9 in set one and forging an 11-11 tie in set two. FMU trailed only 13-9 in the third set before the Pirates pulled away.
