FLORENCE, S.C. -- After dropping the first game of Sunday afternoon's match with Flagler (6-7) by a score of 27-25, the FMU Women's Volleyball team came back with tenacity to capture its first Peach Belt Conference win 3-1 over the Saints.

Francis Marion (3-7) was led by junior Alexzandra Reed and sophomore Caroline Boone who combined for 27 kills on the afternoon.

The Patriots dropped the first game of the match after several unforced errors, including five service errors. Those mistakes were quickly corrected though as FMU made quick work of the Saints in the second game, winning 25-19.

The dominance for head coach Paul MacDonald's squad continued into the third and fourth games as well. The Patriots won the third game convincingly by a 25-16 margin, and then wrapped up the win with a 25-18 game four victory.

With a lineup that is as healthy and full as it has been all year, FMU looked as polished and determined as ever. Senior setter Sloane Shank added 49 assists in the match and senior Shelby Jones led the Patriots with four blocks (one solo, three assists).

This marked the first win for FMU since the season opening day at the FMU Invitational when the Patriots took out both Mount Olive and Shorter.

With a healthy roster ready to go, FMU will look to stay on the winning trail as they continue conference play this week. The Patriots will be on the road Wednesday as they face Armstrong State at 7:00. The team will then return home on Saturday to host UNC Pembroke. First serve is set for 2:00 in the Smith University Center gym.
