Box Score MONTEVALLO, AL – Despite double-doubles from three different Patriots, Francis Marion University lost a four-set decision (25-21, 21-25, 25-15, 25-23) to the University of Montevallo, Friday night (Nov. 7) in Peach Belt Conference women's volleyball action.
FMU (9-18, 5-12) will conclude its regular-season schedule on Saturday with a 2 p.m. match at Columbus State University. The Patriots will then play at nationally ranked Armstrong State University in the first round of the PBC Tournament on Tuesday.
Junior Alexzandra Reed led Francis Marion with 19 kills and 15 digs, while sophomore Chiquita Rivers recorded 10 kills and 15 digs and senior setter Sloane Shank had 46 assists and 13 digs.
Sophomore middle blocker Caroline Boone followed Reed in kills for the Patriots with 16, while junior libero Jessica Amador dug up a team-high 21 balls.
Katie Best led Montevallo (19-11, 10-7) with 13 kills.
Hoping to force a fifth set, Francis Marion held a 22-20 advantage in set four, but the Falcons closed out the match with a 5-1 run.
