WINGATE, NC (Sept. 21, 2013) – The Francis Marion
University men's and women's cross country teams finished eighth
and fourth respectively at the Bulldog Stampede, held Saturday
morning in Wingate, N.C.

MEN'S RESULTS
Seniors Whitney Wagner and Rebeccah Hoekstra paced the Patriot
women with Top-10 finishes on the 5K course. Wagner was FMU's top
finisher at ninth with a time of 20:43, while Hoekstra was a few
steps behind in 10th place at 20:46.
Junior Hayden Clapper crossed the line in 22:32 to pick up a
32nd-place finish, her top time as a Patriot. Other FMU runners to
place were freshman Ashley Wingate at 43rd (23:51), senior Diana
Levy at 46th (24:10), senior London Barnhill at 59th (26:22), and
freshman Emmeline Wheeler at 60th (26:41). Junior Kasey
Bradley finished 64th in 27:18, while freshman Nicole Edlmann was
69th in 28:47.
On the men's side, freshman Jeremiah Hayes led the Patriots with
a 36th-place finish in a time of 31:04. Junior Justin Koehn was a
few steps behind in 38th after running the 8K course in 31:10.
Other Patriots to place included freshman Justin Woodard who
crossed the line in 31:30 for a 40th-place finish, freshman Gino
Lucarelli ran a 33:23 for a 48th-place finish, and freshman Aaron
Robinson collected a 54th-place showing with a time of 33:47.
Freshman Mark Anthony-Holden was 61st in 38:12. For the five
Patriot freshmen, it was their first collegiate 8,000-meter
run.
The host Wingate University won the women's meet with 23 points,
while UNC Pembroke took home runner-up honors with 42 points. UNCP
captured the men's meet with a score of 23, while Pfeiffer
University was second with 62 points.
After an off weekend, the Patriots return to the course on
Friday, October 4, as they travel to Aiken S.C., for the
Bridgestone-Pacer Invitational. The races will begin at 5:00
p.m.
