Florence, S.C. (Oct. 25, 2013) – Sophomore Alexzandra Reed registered a match-high 19 kills, but Francis Marion University fell 3-1 (23-25, 31-29, 25-23, 25-17) to Lander University, Friday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action.

The Patriots (15-4, 8-3 PBC) will return to action Saturday afternoon as they host USC Aiken and Saint Augustine's University in a tri-match. FMU will play the Pacers at 1:00 p.m., followed by the Falcons at 5 p.m.

Reed hit .246 with only five errors in 57 attacks. Junior libero Rebekah Davis recorded a career-high 34 digs, while junior Shelby Jones added a career-high 10 kills. Senior setter Kailey Smith tallied a match-high 59 assists, and senior Jessica Imbimbo earned a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs.

Lander (14-8, 5-7) was led by Kendall Korte, who recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 10 digs. Tarryn Angermeier also picked up 16 kills, while Kiki Hennessey tallied 21 digs.

The Patriots started the match strong, and edged the Bearcats 25-23 in the first set. After Lander squeaked by FMU in set two with a 31-29 victory, the third set was another close affair with neither team holding a lead of more than four points.

With the score tied at 22-22 late in the set, the Bearcats reeled off three straight points to win 25-23. Lander used the momentum of the third set victory to win the fourth set 25-17, taking the match 3-1.
