ST. AUGUSTINE, FL – Senior Jessica Imbimbo pounded out 13 kills and Francis Marion University used a fast start to sweep past Flagler College, 25-16, 25-17, 26-24, Friday evening (Oct. 18) in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action.

Francis Marion completes the home-and-away season sweep of Flagler and improves to 14-2 overall and 8-1 in the Peach Belt.  The Patriots will face PBC leader and 21st-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University (17-0, 9-0) in Savannah, Ga., on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Imbimbo committed only four errors in 25 swings for a .360 attack percentage.  Sophomore Alexzandra Reed added 11 kills, while senior setter Kailey Smith registered a double-double with 35 assists and 10 digs.  Senior Paige Perreault led FMU with 14 digs.

Francis Marion scored the first four points of the opening set and never trailed.  Trailing 7-5 in the second set, FMU rattled off 10 consecutive points for a 15-7 advantage en route to the 25-17 win.  Senior Megan Mooney served 10 times during the run and recorded three of her team-high four service aces in that span.

The Patriots held a 20-15 lead late in set three, but the Saints (12-7, 8-4) rallied to take a 23-22 advantage.  FMU fought off a set point at 24-23 before scoring the final three points on two Flagler attack errors and a kill by junior Emily Sears.
