junior James Dobbin scored a pair of unassisted second-half goals
to help bring the Saints back from a 1-0 deficit for a 2-1 victory
over Francis Marion University, Saturday afternoon (Sept. 29) in
Peach Belt Conference men's soccer action.
The Patriots (2-6, 0-3) got started early when in the 33rd
minute, senior Travis Bally
put FMU up 1-0 with his first goal of the season.
That lead held up going into half and at the beginning of the
second half. But the Saints (5-3, 1-1) did not wait long to take
the lead back. Dobbin registered his first goal of the season in
the 53rd minute to tie the game. Fourteen minutes later, he scored
again with the go-ahead goal to secure the win.
Freshman FMU goalkeeper Taylor King
saved eight shots for the Patriots, who were outshot 35-16.
The Patriots now travel back to Florence to prepare to host
Pfeiffer University on Tuesday at Harztler Field. Kick off is
scheduled for 7 p.m.
