Box Score 2 FLORENCE, SC – Senior outside hitter Liz Drewry set a career high for kills (16) in an afternoon win for Francis Marion University, but then bettered that mark by seven in the nightcap as the Patriots won a pair of contests on Saturday (Sept. 1), the final day of the FMU Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
Francis Marion, now 3-1, will play in the Carson-Newman Tournament next weekend with a pair of matches on both Friday and Saturday.
Drewry paced FMU to a 3-set win over Mount Olive College (25-22, 25-20, 25-12) with 16 kills and three service aces, while hitting .333. Then she registered 23 kills, 10 digs, and three aces as FMU rallied for a 20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23 win over Mars Hill College (2-2) on Saturday evening. Taking 46 swings against the Lions, she committed only six errors for a .370 attack percentage.
Against Mount Olive, junior middle blocker Megan Mooney tallied nine kills with a .692 attach percentage and five blocks. Sophomore libero Meghan Peji dug up 16 balls and received 20 serves without an error, while setters Sloane Shank and Kailey Smith each distributed 18 assists.
Helping Drewry against Mars Hill, junior Paige Perreault added 14 kills and 10 digs, and junior Jessica Imbimbo recorded 10 kills. Smith handed out 31 assists and Shank 17, while Peji posted a career-high 28 digs. Smith completed her own double-double with 12 digs.
