AUGUSTA, GA- Francis Marion University never trailed in its doubleheader sweep of Augusta State University including a 19-run output in the nightcap topping the Jaguars 7-2 and 19-3 in Peach Belt Conference baseball action Sunday afternoon at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

The pair of wins completes a three-game sweep for FMU (15-9, 7-5), which will travel to Limestone College on Tuesday (Mar. 13).

In the opener, the Patriots got seven scoreless innings from junior right-handed starter Spencer Jordan (4-1) who struck out nine Jaguars (8-16, 1-11) and allowed only four hits.   Josh Barks (2-4) was tagged with the loss for Augusta State.

Francis Marion got the scoring started in the top of the second inning when senior Tyler Boyd singled to right field to score fellow senior Brock McCallister, who had led off the inning by reaching on an error.

McCallister was involved in the scoring again in the top of the sixth inning when he singled to left field plating junior Jarrod Reed after he had reached on an error.  FMU made the score 3-0 when senior Buddy Sosnoskie scored on junior Jacob Golliday's RBI groundout to short.

The Patriots stretched their advantage all the way to 7-0 in the top of the seventh inning by scoring four more runs, capped off by McCallister's RBI single through the left side.  McCallister ended the first game 2-for-5 with two RBIs, while senior Brian Paulhus and sophomore Michael Wilson went 2-for-5 as well, with the trio racking up six of the Patriots' nine hits in the contest.

A Brac Barton single scored Seth Foster and Caleb Saggus to narrowed the gap at 7-2, but those were the only runs the Jaguars were able to muster.  Senior Jeremy Knab worked an inning striking out two and giving up the two runs, before junior Tyler Hibbs closed out the game by working a clean bottom of the ninth.

In the second game, the FMU offense exploded to the tune of 19 runs and 21 hits while giving senior left-handed starter Matthew Broderick (2-1) all he needed.

A six spot in the first inning that saw the Patriots send 11 hitters to the plate had a pair of RBIs from junior Will Chandler on a base hit scoring Wilson and Reed.  Golliday then followed that with one of his game-high four hits on a single that plated Sosnoskie.  Wilson ended the scoring in his second at-bat of the opening inning on a single that resulted in two more runs batted in.

FMU scored in six of the nine innings and had seven players with multi-hit games.  Wilson, Reed and Chandler all notched three hits to challenge Golliday's 4-for-6 performance in the nightcap and his two RBIs and four runs scored.  Wilson, who finished 3-for-6, scored three runs of his own to go along with five runs batted in.

Broderick gave up seven hits in five innings of work, while allowing three unearned runs in the process.  Junior righty Gary Ashcraft came on for the unconventional four-inning save as he closed out the game scattering five hits and striking out for hitters as compared to no walks.  Scott Shipman (1-4) took the loss for the Jaguars, as they sent nine pitchers to the mound in the game.
