FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University opened the game with a 22-2 run and sophomore guard Evrik Gary scored 18 points to lead five Patriots in double figures as FMU cruised to a record-setting 117-50 non-conference victory over Allen University, Wednesday night (Feb. 8) in men's basketball action.

FMU ups its record to 14-9 and improves to 23-1 in its last 24 home contests against non-conference opponents. The Patriots play a pivotal Peach Belt Conference game at Augusta State University on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The 67-point margin of victory was a school record, besting the old mark of 53 points accomplished twice: in 1985 an 1983.  The 117 points equaled the second-most points ever scored by the Patriots in a game – five shy of the school record set in a 122-108 win over Shaw University on Jan. 13, 1987.

Gary connected on 7-of-11 shots, including 4-of-5 from beyond the three-point arc, in only 19 minutes of action.  He also hauled down eight rebounds while flirting with his second double-double in a week. Senior 6-5 forward Liki Turner did register his eighth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

FMU junior swingman Darryn Frazier equaled his career high of 17 points for the second straight game, while junior forward Zamarius McLendon also scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds.  Frazier was 5-of-10 from behind the three-point line as the Patriots canned 15 three-pointers, the second highest single-game total in FMU history.  Senior point guard Marcus Wright tallied 10 points and six assists.

All 11 Patriots who dressed for the game got into the scoring column.

Junior 6-6 forward Jeremy Crawford led Allen (3-20) with 24 points, seven rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Sophomore guard Brandon Farmer added 15 points and handed out five assists.

FMU never trailed in the game and after opening the contest with the 22-2 run never led by less than 17 points.  The Patriots closed the first stanza with a 10-1 spurt to lead 52-21 at intermission.

Francis Marion finished the game with a 16-2 spurt.  The Patriots connected on 23-of-38 shots (60.5%) over the final 20 minutes, including an astounding 10-of-15 from three-point range.

FMU shot 55.7 percent for the game and outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 55-31, leading 22-2 in second-chance points.  FMU committed only eight turnovers and blanked Allen in points-off-turnovers 27-0.
