ST. AUGUSTINE, FL- Francis Marion University knotted up its match with the Flagler College Saints one set apiece and had the momentum on its side heading into the pivital third game. It was the Saints, however, who took the momentum back and swept the next two sets to finish off the Patriots 25-21, 20-25, 25-13, 25-13 in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action Friday night (Sept. 30) at the Flagler Gymnasium.
The Patriots (5-9, 1-3) were led in kills by senior outside hitter Ashlee Crook with 12. They were also paced in assists by sophomore setter Nicole Bennett with 27, while senior libero Hallie Legg accumulated 17 digs to lead FMU.
Flagler (11-4, 3-0) took the match thanks in large part to three Saints with double figures in kills, led by Abby Meyers' 15. Olivia Snipes also stood out in the stat book with 52 assists.
FMU continues its weekend road swing with a 2 p.m. Saturday showdown at 19th-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University.
