FLORENCE, SC – Led by sophomore middle blocker Hannah Dederick's 17 kills, Lander University rallied after losing the opening game to claim a 20-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-18 Peach Belt Conference victory over Francis Marion University, Friday night (Sept. 23) in women's volleyball action.
FMU drops to 4-7 overall and 0-1 in the PBC, while Lander improves to 7-6 and 1-1. Francis Marion will play host to USC Aiken on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Senior middle blocker Danielle Parker led Francis Marion with 12 kills and four blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Paige Perreault added 11 kills, 11 digs, and five blocks. Senior libero Hallie Legg registered her sixth 20-dig effort of the season with 20 digs, while sophomore setter Nicole Bennett dished out 37 assists and dug up 15 balls.
Following Dederick for Lander was Mallory Wasik with 11 kills. Freshman setter Jessica Register handed out 41 assists, dug up 17 balls, and served three aces.
FMU hit .333 in the opening-game win, but only managed only .088 over the final three sets.
