HARTSVILLE, SC - The Patriot frontline of seniors Danielle Parker and Amanda Mitchell and sophomore Megan Mooney combined for 25 kills and 17 blocks to lead Francis Marion University to a 25-12, 25-22,12-25, 25-20 non-conference road win over Coker College, Wednesday evening (Sept. 14) in college volleyball action.
Francis Marion (4-5) was led by Parker with 11 kills and four block assists, while Mitchell tallied eight kills and seven blocks and Mooney six kills, six blocks, and three service aces. Senior libero Hallie Legg served five aces and dug up 17 balls, while sophomore setter Nicole Bennett added 32 assists.
Sophomore Taylor Willis paced the Cobras (4-4) with 15 kills, while sophomore setter Kelly Stine handed out 24 assists.
Francis Marion took a 2-0 set lead early, while Coker battled back to win the third set to make the match 2-1. Francis Marion took the fourth and final set 25-20.
FMU will travel to Charleston next Tuesday evening to face NCAA Division I The Citadel in a 6 p.m. first serve.
