LAURINBURG, NC -- Freshman third baseman Michael Wilson collected four hits to help freshman right-hander Jeffrey Stoner to his first collegiate win as Francis Marion University defeated St. Andrews Presbyterian College 14-2, Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 15) in non-conference baseball action.

Francis Marion evens its record at 3-3 and will return to action on Wednesday with a 2 p.m. contest at Barton College.  St. Andrews drops to 1-4.

FMU registered 14 hits and took advantage of nine walks and six hit batters by Knight pitchers.  Despite scoring a season-high 14 runs, the Patriots also stranded 16 base runners.

Wilson, batting leadoff, was 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs scored, and two runs batted in.  Junior second baseman Brock McCallister was 3-for-6 with a double and two runs scored, while left fielder Sam Pepper batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs and first baseman Preston Shuey was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Junior center fielder Buddy Sosnoskie drove in two runs and scored twice as he registered a 1-for-3 day at the plate while being hit twice by pitches.

Stoner (1-0), a native of Martinez, Ga., pitched five inning and allowed four hits and two runs while striking out three.  Senior right Phillip Mozingo tossed three scoreless innings with five strikeouts to earn his first save of 2011.

The Patriots scored four times in the third and led 6-2 after five frames.  FMU then scored once in the sixth and four times each in the seventh and eighth innings.

Andrew Pelfrey (0-1) was the losing pitcher.
