Box Score MORROW, GA. – Forward Teshymia Tillman scored a career-high 27 points and second-ranked Clayton State University led from start-to-finish during a 80-60 victory over Francis Marion University, Saturday afternoon (Feb. 12) in Peach Belt Conference women's basketball action at the Athletics and Fitness Center.
Clayton State (24-0, 13-0) remains the only unbeaten team in Division II and the Lakers showed no remnants of a letdown following Thursday's last-second victory over top-ranked Lander University.
Senior point guard Robin Colbert led FMU (15-7, 8-6) with 15 points and nine rebounds, while senior Shannon Singleton-Bates and sophomore Courtney Mealing each scored 12 points.
Tillman connected on 11-of-14 field goal attempts, while Brittany Hall and Breanna Fort each scored 11 points. Tanisha Woodard dished out 11 assists, just missing her Laker single-game record by one.
Clayton State scored the game's opening six points and raced to a quick 20-6 lead as Tillman scored 10 points during the first five minutes. Francis Marion responded with a 14-1 run that featured a lay-up and two three-pointers by Singleton-Bates, the second-leading scorer in the Peach Belt. That outburst cut the Clayton State lead to 21-20 at the 11:20 mark.
The Laker lead was four points after a three-pointer by FMU's Monica Mann, but Clayton State finished the first half on an 8-0 run to lead 39-27 at intermission.
The Lakers took control by starting the second half with an 18-5 spurt. A three-point play by Hall gave the Lakers a 57-32 lead at the 14:12 mark, their largest lead of the game.
The Lakers converted 24 Francis Marion turnovers into 30 points.
