PEMBROKE N.C.- UNC Pembroke recorded 12 of the match's final 13 points to win set three and claim a 3-0 victory (25-19, 25-22, 25-20) over Francis Marion University in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match-up Wednesday night (Nov. 2) in the Jones Center in Pembroke, N.C.
Francis Marion (10-17, 2-10 PBC) had the Braves (13-15, 5-7 PBC) on the ropes in the third set, up 19-13 before UNCP pulled off the late 12-1 run to close out the visiting Patriots.
Leading the way for Francis Marion in kills was senior Amanda Mitchell with seven, as senior Ashlee Crook and junior Liz Drewry registered six apiece. Sophomore Nicole Bennett paced the squad with 21 assists, while senior libero Hallie Legg dug up 12 balls.
The Braves had a pair of players cross into double-digits in kills as Heather Bolwerk had 11 and Rebecca Morgan 10. Leading the way on assists for UNCP was Ashlyn Rebok with 36.
FMU returns home for a pair of matches starting when it hosts the University of Montevallo on Friday night at 7 p.m. The match Friday is Senior Night as the Patriots will honor Legg, Mitchell, Crook, and Danielle Parker.
