AUGUSTA, GA – Francis Marion University saw its 2011 season come to an end as the Patriots fell in three sets (25-23, 25-19, 25-10) to third-seeded UNC Pembroke, Friday afternoon (Nov. 11) in the quarterfinals of the Peach Belt Conference Volleyball Tournament.

The Patriots, seeded sixth in the tournament, end their season with a 12-18 record.  Four Patriot seniors also saw their collegiate careers come to a close: Ashlee Crook, Hallie Legg, Amanda Mitchell, and Danielle Parker.

Mitchell paced FMU on Friday with eight kills, while Crook registered seven kills and 11 digs. Crook finished her career with 900 kills and 904 digs, while Mitchell tallied 895 career kills.

Legg dug up a team-high 17 balls against the Braves to end her career with 1,257 digs.  Parker recorded a team-high six blocks in her finale.

FMU sophomore setter Nicole Bennett handed out 14 assists.

Rebecca Morgan led UNCP (16-15) with 12 kills.  The Braves advance to face second-seeded Flagler College in Saturday's semifinals.

In the opening set, Francis Marion rallied from a 22-17 deficit to tie the match at 23-23 on consecutive kills by Mitchell.  UNCP then used a kill and a bad set by the Patriots to score the deciding two points and pull out a 25-23 win.  In set two, UNCP used an 8-1 run to overcome a 14-12 FMU advantage and rally for the six-point victory.  The Braves scored the first two points of the third set and never trailed.
