AIKEN, S.C. – Francis
Marion University rallied to force a fourth set, but the Patriots
fell to home-standing USC Aiken 26-24, 25-10, 23-25, 25-20, Friday
night (Sept. 24) in Peach Belt Conference volleyball
action.
The Patriots drop to 9-5 overall
and 1-2 in the Peach Belt. FMU will travel to Lander
University on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match.
Francis Marion was led by junior
Danielle
Parker with 12 kills, while junior Ashlee Crook
tallied nine kills. Senior libero Kelsie Deaton led
all players with 21 digs, while freshman setter Nicole Bennett
recorded a match-high 38 assists.
USCA (6-6, 3-2) was led by
sophomore Shannon Byers with 18 kills. Senior Megan Disney tallied
10 kills and six blocks, while junior Sue MacClary chipped in a
season-high seven kills.
