CATAWBA, NC - With each team taking 11 shots, but none finding
the back of the net, Francis Marion University and Catawba College
played to a 0-0 deadlock, Tuesday night (Sept. 14) in
non-conference men's soccer action.
Francis Marion (0-4-1) snaps its four-match losing skid, while
Catawba moves to 3-1-1. The Patriots will open Peach Belt
Conference play on Saturday when they play host to nationally
ranked Clayton State University for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
FMU senior goalkeeper Clark Richeson made four saves en route to
his first shutout of 2010 and the 13th clean sheet of his
career. Catawba goalkeeper Evan Harvey registered six
saves.
Senior Chris Foltanski led FMU with three shots, two of which
were on frame. Freshman Alex Blandin was wide on a shot
attempt in the 101st minute, the Patriots' only shot in the
extra time.
Catawba led in corner kicks 11-7.
