HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Junior hitter Amanda Mitchell and
freshman setter Nicole Bennett combined to lead Francis Marion
University to a 3-0 sweep (25-23, 25-17, 25-22) of local-rival
Coker College, Saturday afternoon (Oct. 9) in non-conference
women's volleyball action.
Francis Marion captured its second straight 3-0 win and improves
to 12-7 on the season and 47-8 all-time against Coker. FMU
will play host to Converse College on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for the
program's annual Dig Pink Match to raise funds for and
promote Breast Cancer Awareness.
Mitchell registered 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage,
while Bennett handed out 33 assists, served six aces, and dug up
five balls. Senior Mallory Eggert and freshman Riley Forster
added eight and seven kills respectively, while senior Kelsie
Deaton had a match-high nine digs.
Cynallhyia Indriago and April Griggs each had seven kills to
lead the Cobras. Indriago added eight digs, while Molly
Bookhart had 24 assists and eight digs and Katie McElveen had five
kills and eight digs.
