FMU drop matches at Dig Pink Tournament

GREENWOOD, SC -  Francis Marion University fell by identical 3-0 scores in two matches on Saturday (Oct. 24) at Lander University's Dig Pink Volleyball Tournament.

In its morning match, the Patriots (11-14) fell to Limestone University, 27-25, 25-11, 25-22.  Sophomore Amanda Mitchell led FMU with eight kills, while setter Hallie Legg handed out 14 assists.  Sophomore Ashlyn Underhill registered a team-high 18 digs, while senior middle blocker Caitlin Simpson added four blocks.

In its evening match, Francis Marion lost to 24-ranked Wingate University 25-14, 25-15, 25-21.  Underhill compiled nine kills and 11 digs, Ashlee Crook had seven kills and 16 digs, and Mallory Eggert had seven kills and six blocks.  Jess O'Leary (14 assists) and Legg (12 assists) combined for 26 assists.

Francis Marion will play host to the University of Montevallo on Friday at 7 p.m.
