HARTSVILLE, SC - Senior Jessica Lombardi and freshman Amanda
Mitchell each recorded six kills to lead a balanced Francis Marion
University attack as the Patriots swept past local-rival Coker
College 25-10, 25-18, 25-20, Tuesday evening (Sept. 16) in
non-conference women's volleyball action.
Francis Marion improved to 7-4 with its 45th win in 53 all-time
meetings with the Cobras.
Mitchell also had seven service aces in only 15 total attempts.
Junior Jess O'Leary led the Patriots with 16 assists, while
sophomore libero Kelsie Deaton and freshman Ashlyn Underhill had
seven digs each.
Leading Coker (2-8) was Trisha Moore and Kristin Teets with six
kills apiece, while Courtney Nelson had 15 assists and nine digs.
Kelsey Carlson was the Coker dig leader with 13 on the night.
Francis Marion will host the Swamp Fox Invitational on Friday
and Saturday. FMU will play Montreat College in the opening match
at 10 a.m. on Friday.
