GREENWOOD, SC - Three Lander University players posted
double-doubles Friday night (Oct. 31) to lead the Bearcats to
a 25-23, 25-10, 25-21 Peach Belt Conference victory over
visiting Francis Marion University in Horne Arena.
With the win, Lander improves to 19-9 overall and 5-2 in the
PBC, while FMU drops out of first place in the PBC and falls to
19-7 and 5-3. FMU defeated Lander earlier in the season 3-0
in Florence.
Francis Marion was led by senior Jessica Lombard and freshman
Ashlyn Underhill with nine kills apiece, while sophomore libero
Kelsie Deaton and junior Jess O'Leary had 10 digs each.
Senior setter Jenna Kaiser handed out 24 assists.
Lander posted a .289 hitting percentage compared to Francis
Marion's .116.
Lander's Kerri Sorensen had a game-high 13 kills and 11 digs,
while Magi Nottingham added 11 kills and 12 digs, and Candace
LaRocca registered 41 assists and 10 digs. Marina
Camps contributed 20 digs and two service aces for the
Bearcats.
