FLORENCE, SC - Freshman Ashlee Crook recorded a team-high 17 kills and also helped serve Francis Marion University to a come-from-behind 21-25, 25-23, 12-25, 25-18, 15-13 win over local-rival UNC Pembroke, Wednesday night (Oct. 1) in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action.

The Patriots up their overall record to 13-4, equaling last year's win total, while remaining unbeaten in PBC play at 2-0.  UNCP drops to 8-10 and 1-1.

Following Crook, freshman Ashlyn Underhill added 11 kills, while senior Jessica Lombardi had 10.  Senior setter Jenna Kaiser dished out 48 assists and had five key kills to go along with 14 digs.  Freshman Hallie Legg led the Patriots with 16 digs, while sophomore libero Kelsie Deaton registered 15.

Freshman Allie Schneider paced the Braves with 20 kills and 16 digs, while sophomore Rachel Young tallied 10 kills, seven blocks, and four service aces.  Setters Erica Mazur and Kayla Marbert compiled 26 and 15 assists respectively, while junior libero Andrea Laza dug up a game-high 23 balls.  Mazur also had 13 digs.

The Patriots rallied from a 3-1 deficit after UNCP committed no attack errors and hit .382 in an easy game-three win, 25-12.  FMU hit .381 in the deciding fifth set.

UNCP will return home to host the Fairfield Inn Invitational this Friday and Saturday.  Francis Marion will also play three matches in the two-day event, beginning with a 5 p.m. match-up with Queens University of Charlotte on Friday.
