Tyler Osik

Tyler Osik enters his first year as an assistant coach for the Patriot baseball program.

A native of Shoreham, N.Y., Osik is a 2019 graduate of the University of Central Florida with a bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, and played two seasons with the Knights.  As a senior, he appeared in 52 games and batted a team-high .325 with 45 runs scored, 14 doubles, 10 home runs, and 40 RBIs. He split time between left field (14 starts) and first base (37 starts) and was one of seven players in the American Athletic Conference to post a 1.000 fielding percentage.  As a junior, he hit .310 with nine homers and 56 RBIs in 53 contests, en route to earning second-team All-Conference honors. He started 47 games in left field, five games in right field, and one as the designated hitter

Following his collegiate career, he was drafted in the 27th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox.  He spent four seasons in the White Sox organization, including winning the South Atlantic League batting title in 2022 with a .310 average.

Prior to attending UCF, he spent one year at Coker University and two at Chipola College.  In his one playing season at Chipole, he batted .329 with five homers, 27 RBIs, and 45 runs scored.  At Coker, he played in 32 games with a .238 batting average, one homer, and 17 RBIs.

He earned three letters at Shoreham Wading River High School, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 40th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.

He spent the 2021 season as an assistant coach at Farmingdale State College in East Farmingdale, N.Y.

His father, Keith Osik, played 10 seasons in the major leagues (with Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Baltimore, and Washington) and is currently the head coach Farmingdale State College.
