Frank Pitt

Frank L. Pitt begins his third season as head coach for theFrancis Marion University women’s soccer program.

In his first season, he guided a relatively young Patriot squadto a 7-9-1 overall record, the program’s best in five years,and to a perfect 6-0-0 home mark on the new Hartzler Field.

His career coaching mark stands at 9-26-1.

Pitt came to Florence after 10 seasons as an assistant coach atKennesaw State University, the last four as associate headcoach.   During his time with the Owls, KSU registered a135-42-15 record and captured three Atlantic Sun Conference titlesand two conference tournament championships.  Kennesaw Stateearned bids to the 2007 and 2009 NCAA Division I tournaments.

He served as director of the KSU Soccer Camps and was a coachwithin the Georgia ODP system.

Prior to moving to Division I status, the Owls won the 2003Division II national championship with Pitt on the sidelines.

Prior to joining the Kennesaw State staff, he was a teacher andhead varsity girls’ coach for four years (1998-2002) atThompson High School in Alabaster, Ala.   He served as anassistant women’s coach at the University of Montevalloduring the1997-98 season, while also spending four years each asthe head varsity boys’ coach at Hoover (Ala.) High School andHuffman High School.

He also coached several club teams and within the Alabama ODPsystem.

Pitt earned a B.A. degree in history from the University ofAlabama at Birmingham, where he was a four-year letterwinner on thesoccer team.   He later received a Master’s inEducation degree from Montevallo.   He also played oneseason of semi-professional soccer for the Birmingham (Ala.)Grasshoppers.

Pitt is the fourth head coach in the FMU program’s 19-yearhistory.  The Francis Marion women’s soccer program hasan all-time record of 184-143-16, including 12 seasons ofdouble-figure wins and an imposing 107-33-7 home record.
