Colin Wylie

Colin Wylie begins his first year as an assistant coach on the Francis Marion University women's soccer staff.

A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, who resides in Lawrence, Kan., Wylie arrives at FMU after spending the last four seasons as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer program at his alma mater, Ottawa University. His responsibilities included assisting in running practices, recruiting, academic support, organizing team travel, scouting, and serving as the head coach of the junior varsity squad. The Braves improved upon their previous season’s win total in each of his four years with the program.

Since 2018, he has also served as an assistant coach with Kaw Valley FC, a Sporting KC developmental partner and USL League Two club based in Kansas City and Lawrence, Kan., where he helped with game preparations, daily coaching sessions, training the goalkeepers, and providing player support on and off the field.

Wylie also boasts a wealth of youth coaching experience, having worked as a head coach at various levels for Sporting Kaw Valley, a youth program affiliated with Sporting KC and based in Lawrence, since 2012. While with the program, he organized and ran game-day activities, designed practice sessions, and actively recruited players to join the organization. His teams at Sporting Kaw Valley enjoyed a wealth of success, including winning several tournaments.  One of his girls squads captured the 2017 Kansas Youth Soccer President's Cup championship and competed at the U.S. Youth Soccer Regionals in 2018.

From 2012-15, he worked as an assistant coach with the Neosho County Community College women’s soccer program in Chanute, Kan. While with the Panthers, he was responsible for game-day statistics, recruiting, provided academic support, planned team travel, organized fundraising events, and scouted opponents.

While attending Ottawa University, Wylie was a four-year letterman, twice earning All-KCAC honors as a midfielder for the Braves. He was also named to the program’s All-Decade team for the 2000’s.

He earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Ottawa in 2010, and a master’s degree in education in 2017.

He holds a USSF National C Coaching License, an NSCAA Goalkeeper Level 3 Diploma, and an NSCAA National Diploma.
