PERSONAL: Born Samantha Ranee Smith in GardenCity, Kan....Graduated from Lexington High School, where she ranunder the direction of coach Stephanie MacDowell....Competed in the2007 AAAA state cross country championship meet and finished the5,000-meter race with a time of 23:36 as the Wildcats finished 20thin the team standings....Placed 78th in the same meet as a junior(2006) with a time of 21:27 as Lexington finished 11th in the teamstandings.....Member of her high school’s National HonorSociety.
