Shawn Snead

Shawn Snead begins his second year as an assistant athletic trainer at Francis Marion University.

A native of Farnham, Va., Snead earned both a B.S. degree in health fitness recreation resources in 2014 and a M.S. degree in athletic training in 2019 from George Mason University.

Prior to coming to FMU, he served for 18 months as an athletic training student at Marymount University in Arlington, Va.  During that time, he also worked with athletic programs at Paul VI Catholic High School in Fairfax, Va., and Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, D.C.  He also spent time at The Jackson Clinics in Herndon, Va.

Snead also spent time at the Inova Physical Therapy Center in Vienna, Va., as both a patient scheduling associate (II) and a rehabilitation technician.  He also spent four months as an exercise physiologist intern at Inova Fairfax (Va.) Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Snead has certifications in mental health first aid and in the American Heart Association's basic life support, and has his Board of Certification for the athletic trainer. He recently earned certifications as RockTape Myofascial Cupping Practitioner and RockTape Compression Band Flossing Practitioner.
