Lacy enters his first year as an assistant coach with the Francis Marion track and field programs.
The retired CPA and chief financial officer with Mar Mac Manufacturing, Inc., in McBee, S.C., he is a USATF level 2 sprints, hurdles, and relays coach. He has experience coaching at the youth, high school, and NCAA Division I levels.
He earned a B.S. degree in professional accounting from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1989. As an undergraduate, he competed at both Union College and Plattsburgh State, earning conference titles in the pole vault, long jump, and decathlon at the latter school.
He competed at the Masters level between 2001 and 2008, twice earning a national championship in the pole vault.
He served as a volunteer pole vault coach at the University of Vermont for eight seasons (2000-08), coaching six women to Top-10 all-time school marks.
He more recently served as a track coach (sprint hurdles and relays) at Darlington High School and was a youth sprint hurdles and jumps coach with both the Florence and Darlington Youth Track Clubs. At DHS, he coached two state champions in the pole vault, seven AAAA state meet qualifiers, and both the boys and girls school record holders in the pole vault.
He served as the treasurer of the USATF South Carolina Association between 2015 and 2020.Â
