Catherine Green were voted men's and women's Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Mar. 9-15.
A native of Blythewood, S.C., Hunter set a new program record and hit the NCAA Provisional mark in the javelin, as FMU competed at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge. On his first attempt, he registered a toss of 65.31 meters to claim first place in the event. His mark ranks fifth in NCAA Division II this year.
Hunter is the reigning league champion in the javelin and has qualified for the Conference Carolinas Championships in three events.
Green, a native of Tulsa, Okla., posted two Conference Carolinas marks and established a new FMU record in the discus over the weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She registered a third-place finish in the discus with a personal-best toss of 42.68 meters, moving to second overall in the league this season in the event. In the shot put, Green placed ninth with a season-best mark of 11.78 meters, which also ranks second in the conference.
The Patriots are idle the next three weeks before returning to action at the Orange & Blue Relays, hosted by Savannah State University, on Saturday, April 11.
Hunter has already earned his undergraduate degree and is part of the MBA graduate program at FMU. He is a product of Blythewood High School. Green is majoring in accounting and is a product of New Deal High School in Texas.
