GREENWOOD, SC – Fourteenth-ranked Lander University defeated Francis Marion University 260.845 to 224.195, Friday evening (Feb. 20) in a Conference Carolinas acrobatics and tumbling meet.
Francis Marion (0-2) will host King University (Tenn.) on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Lander took a 37.55-32.10 edge after the compulsory portion of the event. FMU's total included a 9.65 score in the toss heat.
In the acro event, Francis Marion registered a 23.90 score, while the Bearcats registered 27.95.
During the pyramid portion, the Patriots posted a 9.45 score in the first heat (Inversion) en route to a 27.05 mark, while Lander scored 28.80, and led 94.30-83.05 at halftime.
Lander won the toss competition by a 27.55 to 25.20 margin, and the Bearcats captured the tumbling event 53.425 to 44.575.
Finally in the team competition, FMU scored 71.37 out of 94.27 start value, while the Bearcats tallied an 85.57 score (out of a possible 100.62).
